PTW – Permit to Work

A Permit to Work system ensures that high-risk activities — such as hot work, confined space entry and electrical isolation — are carried out with full control and communication. This course trains Workers and Supervisors to issue, receive, and manage permits. 

  • Understand the purpose and function of a Permit to Work system 
  • Recognize different permit types (hot work, confined space, electrical, etc.) 
  • Complete and authorize permit forms accurately 
  • Conduct hazard identification and risk assessment for permitted tasks 
  • Define roles and responsibilities of permit issuer, receiver, and work crew 
  • Verify controls (e.g., isolations, PPE, monitoring) are in place before work 
  • Ensure proper closure, handover, and documentation of completed permits
