Confined space

Confined spaces — such as tanks, tunnels, and crawl spaces — present serious hazards due to limited entry points, poor ventilation, and the potential for toxic gases or low oxygen. Without the right precautions, even a brief task can become life-threatening. This course helps workers and supervisors understand the dangers and apply controls to ensure safe entry, work, and exit.

  • Identify confined spaces and understand the specific risks involved
  • Recognize legal requirements and responsibilities of entrants, attendants, and supervisors
  • Conduct atmospheric testing and interpret results correctly
  • Implement control measures such as ventilation, isolation, and communication systems
  • Follow permit-to-work procedures for entry
  • Respond effectively in emergency situations, including rescue coordination
  • Select and use appropriate PPE for confined space work
